The Coy-Wolf is a much debated name for our most commonly seen Coyotes. Other names include the Hybrid Wolf or Coyote and Eastern Coyote. They are basically a mix of Coyote, Wolf and Dog but are not yet what is considered a new species. Some genetic testing has been done on them and there is always a mixture of the species but scientists do not believe they are purposely breeding with each other as they would typical rather not but are close enough in genetics that they can. These days the populations of both the wolf and the coyote are healthy, while in the past this was not true, making finding mates difficult. Time will tell if there will be more changes in the future.
