HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR THE SESSION

Ensure your best possible photo opportunities by desensitizing your dog to the feeling of having something on their coat at home before your session. Place a scoop of flour between the shoulder blades, behind their heads and have them be still for a minute or two then release. Attempt to not allow an immediate shake off! Throw a toy or treat forward to show them it’s safe. Do this several times until they seem more comfortable.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

Each session includes 1 colour choice of the current colour selections with enough powder to do at least 6 attempts per dog. Additional colours are available at an extra cost. Jumps are available for use during session. If additional equipment is requested such as weave poles, flyball box, etc. it must be provided by client.

Each session includes up to two digital photos depending on dogs behaviour and resulting photos. Additional photos, if any, will be available in an online gallery. Any additional creative design / photos will require additional fees. Photos can be printed in various styles including metal or acrylic and are available at an extra cost.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

We will do 1 or 2 practice jumps with each dog. Timing is important since once the powder gets on their shoulders, they have the urge to shake it off. I need to capture the movement with the powder flowing. Each dog will require two people to work with them although I do have an assistant with me that can help if required. Each dog will take approximately 30 to 40 min each. Please be mindful of any dogs ahead of you before coming on to the site.

Please be sure to wait for my call of READY! Before releasing the dog.

IS IT SAFE?

All attempts for safety with each dog will be my priority. I create the powder from scratch, taking over a month for the whole process. All movement must be away from the powder and not into it. With an all natural powder (cornstarch and food colouring), rest assured there is no toxicity if powder is ingested. All precautions to avoid discomfort of the powder in the eyes or mouth, as we ourselves wouldn’t enjoy, are taken. The best photos will come from a jumping dog but walking quickly will work for senior dogs.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY DOG AFTER MY SESSION?

Be sure to keep your dog dry before the session and bring a towel or brush to remove the remainder of the powder after the session. Do not bath your dog before the session as the powder will actually stay on their coats longer without the natural oils that build up over time between baths. Do note that wetting your dog after the session may result in some colouring of their coat. Once you’ve blown or brushed the majority of the colour out, it will wash off but may last a short time. Once you are home use a blow dryer to blow the colour from closer to the skin if you’d like. The colour is made from cornstarch and food colouring so it is completely safe. Remember to wear clothes yourself that you won’t mind getting stained or dirty.
