RARE BIRD SIGHTINGS

These photos are rare bird sightings that I have experienced throughout my time photographing birds. A rare sighting means this bird is very unusual to have been visiting the area it was seen in. It's normally a fairly special moment to be the first to find a rare bird. My first was the Lark Bunting in Prince Edward County. I had no idea what it was or what I'd seen. I was busy taking photos of a Savannah Sparrow and it was beside it. When I realized the significance of what it was, I became a bit obsessed with birding and finding rare species. I will travel (during non-pandemic times) a fair distance to capture a photo of the discovered bird. Sometimes these are birds only seen in the south western states or out west. It's a special moment.
